DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE

Language is a tool for intellectual and emotional expression. Without language, we would be helpless and unable to express ourselves and convey our feelings to others, and consequently we would be groping in total darkness. Language is the vehicle of human civilization, which is solely responsible for transmitting knowledge, and human thought and culture, linking the present to the past and making us able to know how the earlier generations lived, thought, and felt. In fact, language plays the most crucial part in the preservation of values shared by the human society since time immemorial.

One of the oldest world languages, Arabic is the most amazing language we have today. Due to the uniquely rich vocabulary it has, its amazingly steady grammatical rules, conjugation vastness, derivational depth and ramifications, morphological affluence, rhythmic constructions, structural diversities, extraordinary flexibility and adaptability, and graceful calligraphy, Arabic has always captured the imagination of the linguists, experts, and critics of all times across the globe. It has always attracted the human mind to observe, explore, study, relish and enjoy it. It has been a major vehicle of culture for many centuries, and once pioneered the world in science, theology, philosophy, medicine and mathematics etc. especially in the Middle Ages not only in the Islamic world, but even in Europe and other parts of the world.Due to the great viability, and cultural and historical relevance of this language, the Orientalists and Western scholars too have always attached profound significance to this Semitic language.

German orientalist, Freitag (1788– 1861), said: “Arabic is the most affluent language. ”Ernest Renan, the French philosopher and writer (1823– 1892), who carried out extensive research on Semitic languages, said: “The Arabic language is the most astonishing event of human history. Unknown during the classical period, it suddenly emerged as a complete language. After this, it did not undergo any noticeable changes, so one cannot define for it an early or a late stage. It is just the same today as it was when it first appeared. ” Renan further said: “Arabic was suddenly born in a state of wholeness and perfection. It has neither childhood nor senility, and this is very odd in the history of mankind.”

One of the six official languages of the United Nations, the Arabic language is spoken today by more than 300 million Arab native speakers, and it is the liturgical language of around 2 billion Muslims across the globe. About more than 800 million Muslims around the world have an earnest desire to learn Arabic to be able to read and recite the Glorious Qura’an while worshiping Allah in their prayers, even though most of them do not understand the meanings of what they recite.

In fact, different learners have different motives and goals when it comes to learning Arabic. Many people learn Arabic to land a job in a company or for business trips in which case they need to communicate with Arab clients, companies, and organizations. Many others learn it to simply pass a certain exam. Some others learn it as a hobby or for an entertainment. Most of the Orientalists in Europe and America learn Arabic to be able to directly employ and utilize the early sources of Islam to discuss, criticize or even, in some cases, to malign Islam. There are some others who, having migrated to an Arab country, want to master Arabic language as they need to get integrated into the new Arab community they have come into contact with. However, most of the Muslims learn Arabic as this is their cultural identity, the source of their religion, the foundation of their faith, the language of their intellectual and academic legacy, the language of their Prophet and his Companions, and the language of the Final Revelation from God Almighty.

Considering the unmatched significance Arabic enjoys in our contemporary world, thousands of centers, institutes, academies, and schools have been established worldwide to teach it as this language is widely used in workplaces, government offices, international entities, and media. Today we have uncountable online and offline institutes across the globe which teach Arabic, and many of them are offering really great services by providing effective courses on Arabic language.
